Forum Civil, Senegal
In Senegal, Oxfam partners with Forum Civil, Transparency International’s national chapter, a civil society non-profit organisation founded in 1993.
Since its creation, Forum Civil has focused on promoting good governance, transparency, and the fight against corruption. The activities of Forum Civil for the emergence of an active citizenship have contributed to a greater participation of citizens and enhanced accountability of policy-makers. Forum Civil has particularly contributed to breaking the taboo on the phenomenon of corruption in Senegal and, on the basis of this work, was accredited by Transparency International as its Senegalese chapter in 2000.
With the ReCIPE project, Forum Civil will further their work.
- They will play a key role in the development and implementation of the New Deal for Technology, a comprehensive digital strategy recently launched by Senegal’s government.
- They will support a wide range of civil society actors, including journalists and youth, to influence policies and practices related to digital rights and the digital infrastructure in the country.
- They will also strengthen the capacities of civil society organisations and community members, in terms of digital skills and safety and online content discernment.
“Through the ReCIPE project, Forum Civil can make a timely contribution to the digital ecosystem in Senegal. We will use our network and technical capabilities to ensure everyone in Senegal, especially people living in the border regions and young people, can benefit from better and more affordable digital technologies.”
