ReCIPE strengthens our partner organisations’ capacity to address digital risks and inequalities, support their communities, and contribute to the digital rights movement. We provide trainings, workshops, resources and tools to improve digital literacy, online advocacy capabilities, and digital security.

Youth conferences on Digital skills and Safety

FORUM CIVIL, SENEGAL

“From Saint-Louis to Kolda, passing through Podor, Kaffrine, Guinguinéo, Richard-Toll, and Bounkiling, conferences were organised to train and raise awareness among 820 students.”

Forum Civil mobilised students who are members of the organisation's Integrity and Active Citizenship Clubs (CICA) as well as teachers and educational leaders from Open Digital Spaces (ENO) for training conferences around the themes of digital discernment, safety, and culture. The conferences combined presentations, interactive discussions, Q&A sessions, and module screenings.

The main topics covered included:

Digital discernment: critical thinking in the face of misinformation, source verification, and caution with viral content.

Digital safety: password management, protection of personal data, and safe online behaviour.

Citizen-centred digital culture: respect for others, creation of useful content, and civic engagement online.

Risks for children and young people: cyberbullying, grooming, sextortion, fake news, and malware.

Institutional responses: presentations of the national strategy Senegal Digital 2025–2035 (New Technological Deal), focusing on digital sovereignty, public service digitalisation, and public-private partnerships for inclusive digital governance.

These activities helped build the skills of young members of the Integrity and Active Citizenship Clubs (CICA) at Forum Civil, guiding them on how to conduct themselves responsibly on the internet and social media. The aim is to boost their digital know-how and awareness so they can safely engage as active digital citizens.
