Youth conferences on Digital skills and Safety

FORUM CIVIL, SENEGAL

Forum Civil mobilised students who are members of the organisation's Integrity and Active Citizenship Clubs (CICA) as well as teachers and educational leaders from Open Digital Spaces (ENO) for training conferences around the themes of digital discernment, safety, and culture. The conferences combined presentations, interactive discussions, Q&A sessions, and module screenings. 

The main topics covered included:

Digital discernment: critical thinking in the face of misinformation, source verification, and caution with viral content.

Digital safety: password management, protection of personal data, and safe online behaviour.

Citizen-centred digital culture: respect for others, creation of useful content, and civic engagement online.

Risks for children and young people: cyberbullying, grooming, sextortion, fake news, and malware.

Institutional responses: presentations of the national strategy Senegal Digital 2025–2035 (New Technological Deal), focusing on digital sovereignty, public service digitalisation, and public-private partnerships for inclusive digital governance.
